Chris Brown and Lil Baby toured together during the summer of 2022. On April 26, they announced their joint tour of North America, named the ‘One of Them Ones’ tour, which commenced in July. Aaron Kaminar from Imagesflux collaborated to provide concert visuals for these two performing artists. Aaron created the concepts, and it was our task to bring a few of them to life.

Chris Brown: Under the Influence

This piece featured a variety of pills, symbolizing the theme of ‘influence,’ in an underwater scene. The pills were individually simulated using C4D and X-Particles, and then integrated into After Effects and utilized in Trapcode Particular to create a particle system with multiple pills descending underwater.

Another segment of this song featured an underwater room with caustics, accomplished by employing a combination of baked-in caustic lights from C4D and additional caustics composited using various noise techniques.

Lil Baby: Emotionally Scared

Working with volumetrics on a tight deadline can be challenging due to the rendering time involved. However, we devised an efficient system that allowed us to achieve the desired effect. We created a base volumetric loop using C4D and Octane, generating various light passes. Subsequently, in After Effects, we used these light passes to reveal different parts of the lighting, enabling us to code and iterate at a faster rate compared to handling everything solely in C4D.
